Regional museum Binntal

Opened in 1983, the museum presented archaeological finds and minerals from the Binntal valley as well as parts of the ethnological collection of archaeologist and ethnologist Gerd Graeser (1929-2016) until the summer of 2023. In 2021, the Graeser-Andenmatten Foundation, the Binntal Landscape Park and the municipality of Binn decided to comprehensively modernise the museum concept, renovate the exhibition rooms and use part of the exhibition space for temporary exhibitions in future. The remodelling will take place in stages between 2024 and 2027.

Address: Ackerstrasse 2, 3996 Binn.

Until mid-August 2026, the museum’s attic will host the temporary exhibition ‘From Darkness into Light’, which explores the themes of night-time darkness and light pollution.

From June to December 2026, the first floor of the museum will host the photography exhibition ‘Summer in Grengiols’, featuring images by the Biel-based photographer Arthur Rosatti (1916–2005).

In September 2026, the Gerd Graeser Collection will return to the museum’s attic. The participatory project ‘von Feld zu Feld/d’un champs à l’autre’, realised in collaboration with the least association, enabled the public to have a say in the selection of objects for the new collection exhibition.
