Summer in Grengiols
Photographs by Arthur Rosatti
From the 1940s to the 1970s, Arthur Rosatti (1916–2005), a book printer and passionate amateur photographer from Biel, spent every summer holiday with his family in Grengiols, the home town of his wife Anna Walpen.
Thanks to Rosatti’s exceptional photographic talent, his eye for the perfect shot and his close familiarity with the villagers he portrayed, his photographs offer an intimate glimpse into everyday life in the Alps during the summers of those years. He built up a collection of several hundred photographs, which his heirs bequeathed to the municipality of Grengiols after his death.
With the kind permission and support of the municipality of Grengiols, the Binntal Regional Museum is presenting various aspects of this extensive collection in two consecutive exhibitions. The first exhibition opens on 31 May 2026.
