Music village Ernen

Every summer, Ernen is transformed into the Musik Dorf Ernen, hosting world-class concerts. Founded by the Hungarian pianist and music educator György Sebök (1922–1999), the masterclasses he first held in 1974 grew into an internationally renowned festival. Today, the Musik Dorf  Ernen presents over 50 concerts (orchestra, jazz, baroque, piano, chamber music, organ) as well as masterclasses, seminars and educational events. The imaginative programming and the combination of first-class music, a beautiful setting and a friendly atmosphere are particularly appreciated.

To the happy prospect

The summer exhibition "Zur frohen Aussicht" has been held in Ernen every two years since 2015. Young artists - from Valais and the rest of Switzerland - show their installations developed especially for the village outdoors and in various buildings. Some of the works will remain on site afterwards, such as the "Galgenvogel" by Moritz Hossli (photo), which can be seen and heard every hour on the hour until further notice (May-October, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.) at the town hall on the village square. The exhibition is organized by the Forum Ernen association.
