Cultural organizer
The Binntal Landscape Park not only offers a unique natural and cultural landscape, but also a diverse cultural life. From music festivals with an international reputation to village clubs, there is a rich cultural offering.
Alpengruss Music Society
The Alpengruss music society is an integral part of village life in Grengiols. It has set itself the goal of actively shaping cultural village life, not only musically but also socially. The musical education of children and young people and the committed promotion of young talent provides the village of Grengiols with music that is young, fresh and extremely lively.
Bergland Cultural Association
The purpose of the association is to promote cultural events in Ernen, in particular on the Bergland Produkte farm. For many years, the Rock-im-Stall-Festival was organized. The association currently presents various cultural events in the garden in front of the organic food store under the name Kulturgarten Ernen. The association also supports ecological and biodynamic projects.
Binn Culture
At the turn of the year, the small mountain village of Binn is transformed into a festival venue for two weeks with readings, lectures, small theaters, cabarets and music in a wide variety of styles. There are two events on the program each day - the first at 5.00 pm and the second at 9.00 pm. The Binn Cultural Evenings are jointly organized by the Binn Culture Association and the Binntal Landscape Park. The events take place in the community hall of Binn, in the Hotel Ofenhorn and in the parish church of Wileren.
Frid Music Society
The Ernen municipal music society regularly provides the backdrop for secular and religious celebrations. In 2010, it celebrated its 100th anniversary. The music society unites young and old. Playing brass music is just as important as cultivating camaraderie. The motto on the banner reads "Ready to play in joy and sorrow".
Grengiola Theater Club
Every two years it's "Clear the stage for ???". The Grengiola theater association has a long tradition: theater has been performed in Grengiols for more than 100 years.
Grengiols village association
The purpose of the association is the preservation, revitalization and sustainable development of the village of Grengiols as well as the organization or promotion of events of various kinds.
Every year when the tulips in Grengiols are in bloom, the "Grängjer Kulturtäg" are organized. A colorful mix of music and art is offered parallel to the tulip tours.
Music village Ernen
Every summer, Ernen is transformed into a music village where world-class classical concerts are performed. The father of the festival was the world-famous Hungarian pianist and music teacher György Sebök (1922-1999), who first chose the tranquil village for his annual master classes in piano and chamber music in 1974. Today, the internationally renowned festival lasts several weeks and includes piano recitals, chamber, baroque, jazz and orchestral concerts, organ recitals and, last but not least, masterclasses - all in the tradition of its founder. The concerts are complemented by literary events and seminars.
To the happy prospect
The summer exhibition "Zur frohen Aussicht" has been held in Ernen every two years since 2015. Young artists - from Valais and the rest of Switzerland - show their installations developed especially for the village outdoors and in various buildings. Some of the works will remain on site afterwards, such as the "Galgenvogel" by Moritz Hossli (photo), which can be seen and heard every hour on the hour until further notice (May-October, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.) at the town hall on the village square. The exhibition is organized by the Forum Ernen association.
