Labels

Many products carry labels that help consumers to find their way around when shopping. The labeled products and their producers must meet various standards in terms of quality and origin. There are three important labels in the Binntal Landscape Park.

Swiss parks" label

The federal government has created its own product label for goods and services from the parks. The product label in the form of the green square "Swiss parks" may only be used for products

  • which are mainly produced in the park
  • whose production supports the objectives of the park

Food must meet the standards of regional products, i.e. the main ingredient must come from the park and at least two thirds of the added value must be generated in the park area. The farms are regularly inspected by independent experts and the products are certified after successful inspection.

Partner company: Binntal Landscape Park

The Binntal Landscape Park logo on products and in the park's shop windows is evidence of an active partnership between the company and the Binntal Landscape Park.

The partner companies in the Binntal Landscape Park are ambassadors for the values of the Swiss parks and, together with the park and other partner companies, set goals for the sustainable development of our region.

The park office concludes a partnership agreement with the companies, which includes an action plan that they work together to implement.

Label "AOP - Appelation d'origine protégée"

AOP means "protected designation of origin" (PDO) in German, but the abbreviation AOP is usually used in Switzerland and DOP in Italy. For products with an AOP, everything comes from a clearly defined region of origin, from the raw materials and processing to the end product. Independent certification bodies monitor compliance with these requirements.
