The Right Behaviors for Harmonious Coexistence
In the Binntal Landscape Park, sheep, wildlife, livestock guard dogs, and people share the same habitat. For this coexistence to succeed, mutual respect is essential—as is a good understanding of the important work that livestock guard dogs do.
These dogs protect the sheep from natural predators and react instinctively to disturbances. By behaving appropriately, being considerate, and showing tolerance, you can help prevent incidents and make the dogs’ work easier.

Go around the herd by moving away. Don’t hesitate to leave the trail if necessary. Don’t hesitate to turn back! |
Do not run away! Do not turn your back on the dog or look it in the eyes. Slow down. If the dog approaches, stop completely. This will help it identify you. |
The presence of domestic dogs near herds is strongly discouraged. If you are out with your dog nonetheless, keep it on a leash and do not pick it up. |
Get off your bike and continue walking at a leisurely pace. |
