Geology and rocks of the Binntal valley

While the minerals are not easy to find, you can find and study the rocks at every turn. We cordially invite you to explore the rock world of the Binntal.

The rock adventure trail between Fäld and the mineral mine

The outdated geological trail was renovated and completely redesigned in 2016. The most important rocks of the Binntal valley are presented at eleven stations along the little road from the Imfeld restaurant to the Lengenbach mineral mine. The route is 1.25 km long and climbs 150 meters in altitude. The walking time is around 30 minutes.

The signs are aimed at laypeople and largely avoid technical terms and jargon. A small paragraph in each case is aimed at experts. You are also invited to get active and try things out for yourself at the lithophone made of serpentinite slabs, at the sound holes and at the magnifying glass station.

Leaflet: Geological map of the Binntal Landscape Park

With our brochure "Geology and Minerals Landscape Park Binntal" you can experience geology, rocks and minerals in the Binntal.

A geological map and short texts describe geological and geomorphological phenomena, mineral discovery areas and places with historical mining. There are also suggestions for "stone-rich" hikes in the brochure, which is available from the tourist offices.
