Regional museum Binntal

Opened in 1983, the museum presented archaeological finds and minerals from the Binntal valley as well as parts of the ethnological collection of archaeologist and ethnologist Gerd Graeser (1929-2016) until the summer of 2023. In 2021, the Graeser-Andenmatten Foundation, the Binntal Landscape Park and the municipality of Binn decided to comprehensively modernise the museum concept, renovate the exhibition rooms and use part of the exhibition space for temporary exhibitions in future. The remodelling will take place in stages between 2024 and 2026.

Address: Ackerstrasse 2, 3996 Binn.

The year 2025 was marked by the darkness of night. While the photo exhibition ‘Froisser la nuit’, which opened in December 2024, examines the theme from an artistic perspective, the exhibition ‘Dunkel ins Licht’ (Darkness into Light) focuses on ecological and cultural aspects.

In 2026, Gerd Graeser's collection will return to the museum. The participatory project ‘von Feld zu Feld/d'un champs à l'autre’, realised in collaboration with the association least, enabled the public to participate in the selection of objects for the new collection exhibition.
