Sweet rye tulips
We chose the shape of a tulip for our biscuit because the rye comes from the fields of Chalberweid above Grengiols. Every year in the second half of May, a unique wild tulip blooms in the rye fields here. The Grengiols tulip (Tulipa grengiolensis in Latin) bears the name of the village; the Grengiols Tulip Guild looks after this unique flower. It is crucial that the fields are cultivated in the traditional way without chemicals. As a result, they provide a habitat for a species-rich field flora. In addition to the tulip, other colorful flowers such as the field quail wheat or the summer adonis blossom.
