Transboundary Park by EUROPARC

The Binntal Veglia Devero Transboundary Park comprises the Alpe Veglia and Alpe Devero Nature Parks in Italy and the Binntal Landscape Park in Switzerland, all located in the picturesque Lepontine Alps. This fascinating natural environment is dominated by imposing cliffs, pristine glaciers and majestic mountains rising up to 3,500 meters above sea level. The landscape includes alpine areas, lush pastures, high moors and idyllic meadows.

The first official agreement on transnational cooperation between these parks was concluded in 2013. However, the roots of human interaction and exchange across the Arbola/Albrun Pass go back an impressive 3000 years.

The transnational Binntal Veglia Devero Nature Park comprises the following protected areas:

Binntal and Veglia Devero have been certified as a EUROPARC "Transboundary Park" since 2019 and are actively involved in the network of around a dozen cross-border park areas in Europe. In 2024, the parks successfully completed the recertification and are allowed to carry the «Transboundary Park» label for another five years.
