Binntal Veglia Devero Transboundary Nature Park

Transnational projects

On Friday, September 27, 2019, the Binntal Nature Park and the Veglia Devero Nature Park received the "Transboundary Park" certificate in Jurmala, Latvia, from Ignace Schops, President of EUROPARC.

Initial situation

The European umbrella organization EUROPARC, which brings together over 400 parks and protected areas in 41 countries, awards this certificate in recognition of the long-standing and exemplary cross-border cooperation between the two nature parks in Valais and Piedmont. The successful recertification in 2024 highlights the sustainability of this partnership.

Goal

The aim of the project is to sustainably strengthen the protection of the Alpine natural and cultural landscape through coordinated cross-border cooperation, to preserve the shared natural heritage for future generations, and to promote exchange between local communities on both sides of the border. This European award encourages the two parks to continue on the path they have embarked upon.
