Alpkommission Furggen

The Alpkommission Furggen is responsible for farming Alpe Furggen. Here cheese is made in the traditional manner, in large copper vats over an open fire.

The alp also has a very distinctive topography, with five meadows at different altitudes from the Saflischtal valley bottom up to the Furggen high plateau. Between July and September, people and animals relocate to the different meadows.

Visit Alpe Furggen between July and mid-September and you can taste a range of local products at an 'Ă„lpler-Apero'. During this period the Breithorn bus goes right up to the alp at an altitude of 2,450 metres, from where you can enjoy gentle hikes of around one hour.
