Furggen Alpine Committee
The Furggen Alpine Committee is responsible for the land management of the alp of the same name. The alp of Furggen is known for its traditional cheese production in a large copper vat over an open fire.
This circular trail takes you up to Bättlihorn mountain (2,992 m above sea level). You get a fantastic view from the top of this mountain. The hike takes about 4-5 hours.
From Furggen, you walk along the hiking trail towards Saflischpass. Approx. 1.5 km before the top of the pass at a place called "Tanzbede", you turn to the north into the "Öügschtchumma". At this point, you need to know that this is not an officially marked hiking trail. You follow the outline of the path until you get to the summit of the Bättlihorn. The final ascent is very steep and challenging. However, you will be rewarded with probably the most beautiful view in the entire Alpine region when you get to the top of the "Bättlihorn". Experienced mountain hikers can take the return route via the ridge of "Öügschtchumma" and "Cheerete Wasser" back to Furggen.
