Reflection trail

Theme trailHiking trail

Open
From the chapel of the Cross, we first follow the hiking trail in a south-easterly direction. At the very back, by the last pastures, the first cross of the Reflection Trail awaits us.

From there, the path first climbs until we reach the "Maiensäss". Then we hike down through forest and meadows to Wilere. From time to time, a cross on the path of reflection invites us to reflect and linger.

More informations

The chapel of the Cross (Heiligkreuz) was built around 1678 and completely renovated in 1976-77. Unusual for this region is the cross-shaped ground plan. Among the votive offerings hung until it was stolen in 1918, an iron neck shackle which, according to the legend, came from a soldier miraculously liberated from Turkish captivity. As a thank you for the rescue, he hung the shackles in the chapel. Even today, the chapel of the Cross is a frequently visited place of pilgrimage. More than 3000 pilgrims enroll in the pilgrim’s book on the chapel every year.
