Furggen Alpine Committee
The Furggen Alpine Committee is responsible for the land management of the alp of the same name. The alp of Furggen is known for its traditional cheese production in a large copper vat over an open fire as well as its topography with 5 altitudinal belts featuring 5 alpine pastures stretching from the valley floor of Saflischtal right up to the high plateau of Furggen. The herder and animals wander from one pasture to the next between July and September.
Visit the Furggen alp between July and mid-September for a special alp farmer aperitif and you can taste the products for yourself. During this period, you can take the Breithorn bus straight up to the alp at 2,450 m above sea level every Thursday where you can go on gentle hiking tours lasting about one hour.
