Ernen – Galgen – Mühlebach – suspension bridge – Ernen

Hiking trail

Open
This walk leads from the old village center of Ernen to the Mosshubel and then to Mühlebach. Via the old village center of Mühlebach and the panoramic trail, you return to Ernen. A detour to the suspension bridge is worthwhile.

From the old village center, you pass by huge maple trees to reach the gallows on the Mosshubel. After crossing a small spruce forest, you descend to the old water pipes, the Chännla. Then you enter the village of Mühlebach and turn left to reach the 'Goms Bridge' suspension bridge. For thrill-seekers, it's worth crossing. On the way back, you pass through Mühlebach, the village with the oldest compact wooden village center. From here, the panoramic trail leads back to Ernen.

More informations

Bellwald was part of the parish of Ernen until 1697. The path through the Lammas Gorge was heavily used for centuries. Even as a hiking trail, the connection across the Rotten River was popular. However, maintaining the path was difficult due to the steep terrain, which often led to landslides.
Thus arose the idea of replacing the path with a suspension bridge, which was inaugurated on June 14, 2015. The "Goms Bridge" connects the two hiking areas of Bellwald and Ernen. The bridge, which spans the wild Lammas Gorge 92 meters above the Rotten River, is constructed of local larch wood and offers ample space not only to hikers but also to wheelchair users and pedestrians with bicycles.
The "Goms Bridge" is open year-round.
